InstantLive Server is a local HTML file hosting tool by TechSetuApps. We are fully committed to your privacy. This app processes files entirely on your device and does not transmit personal data to any external server.
No personal information is collected or stored remotely by us.
No usage analytics or crash reports are sent to any server owned by us.
Files you serve are never uploaded to any cloud or third-party server.
No account or registration is required.
No device identifiers beyond what Google AdMob requires (see below).
Virtual File System (VFS)
When no folder is selected, InstantLive Server creates a virtual folder in RAM (memory) to serve files with relative path support. This virtual folder does not exist on your device storage and is invisible to file managers. It is automatically cleared when hosting stops.
The VFS enables your HTML files to reference assets like <img src="assets/image.png"> or <script src="js/app.js"> using standard relative paths. All files in the VFS are served directly from memory with zero disk writes.
Folder Selection & Auto-Hosting
When you use the "Select a Folder" feature, InstantLive Server reads all files from the chosen folder using Android's Storage Access Framework (SAF). The app periodically checks (every 500ms) for new or changed files and automatically hosts them. No files are copied or modified — they are served directly from their original location.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
InstantLive Server displays ads via Google AdMob to support free development. A short interstitial ad appears before each hosting session. A 2-minute grace period applies.
AdMob may collect device advertising ID, IP address, and app interaction data. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Local Storage Only
InstantLive Server temporarily copies your selected HTML file and other files from the same folder (images, CSS, JS, and other assets) to your device's local cache, solely to serve them over the local HTTP server. You can also add files from other folders using "Add More Files". This data never leaves your device and is cleared when hosting stops.
Network Access
The app creates a local HTTP server on your device (default port 7090), accessible only on the same local network. No personal data is transmitted to the internet.
App Update Check
On startup, InstantLive Server fetches a small version file from GitHub. No personal data is sent — only the version number is compared locally to notify you of available updates.
Permissions Used
INTERNET — Run the local HTTP server, load ads, and check for updates.
ACCESS_WIFI_STATE / ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — Detect your hotspot IP address.
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / READ_MEDIA — Select HTML files and read other files from the same folder (images, CSS, JS etc.) for local hosting.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS — Show the "Hosting Active" persistent notification.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE — Keep the server running in the background.
WAKE_LOCK — Prevent Android from stopping the server due to battery optimization.
Folder access is granted through Android's Storage Access Framework (SAF) via ACTION_OPEN_DOCUMENT_TREE. This is a standard Android permission that lets you choose which folder the app can read — the app cannot access any folder without your explicit selection.
Children's Privacy
InstantLive Server is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Code origin — UI design and application logic conceived by the author. No code copied from other projects.
AI disclosure — Code was written with AI assistance (LLM). The author is learning Kotlin — AI served as a development accelerator.
No hidden tracking — No telemetry, no analytics beyond Google AdMob SDK for ad serving.
No backdoors — Server binds 0.0.0.0 by design for local access only. No remote access features.
Full audit — Entire source code is available for review on GitHub.
Security Audit
This project is open to security review. If you find vulnerabilities or security flaws, do not exploit them. Report via GitHub Issues with steps to reproduce and suggested fix.
The author is learning security auditing — your reports help improve both the app and these skills.
Force Update
A force update mechanism is built into the app. It triggers only on major bugs or critical security updates. When activated, the update notification cannot be dismissed and the user must update to continue.
Regular (non-force) updates are also checked on startup via GitHub — no personal data is sent.
